Resume/C.V.

Looking at my resume/C.V., I feel somewhat ambivalent. I guess putting so much work into going to school was better than just lying on my butt and drinking beer for these years. And it definitely had a positive influence on who I am today--and some bad influences! I just wish all this work would have translated into a more lucrative lifestyle. Maybe it will someday. Oh well. I didn't have the kind of brain to become an accountant, a lawyer, or a scientist. Anyway, without further ado, here it is:

Professional Experience

Winter Semester 2003. Mott Community College. Part-time history instructor for the Social Sciences Department. I taught two sections of History 154: US History, 1607-1877 and one section of History 155: US History, 1877 to Present.

Fall 1999 to July 2001. Instructor/TA for the Integrated Arts & Humanities Department at Michigan State University teaching IAH 201 “The United States and the World”, a class that looks at how the national identity of the U.S. has been remade over its history. My duties included leading class discussions, formulating class assignments, and grading. (I should mention here that I actually taught this class-I was not an assistant to an instructor as the title of TA sometimes denotes.)

1996 to 1997. Young and Welshan's Bookstore in Flint, Michigan. In addition to waiting on customers, my duties also included sorting books and shelving them, along with searching databases and placing orders for books.

Fall 1994 to Spring Semester 1996. Graduate assistant at Indiana State University. My duties included administering exams and showing films. During my second year as a graduate assistant, I graded exams in World Civilization history courses. I also ordered history books for the library through the history department, and ran searches of various library databases for the professors to whom I was assigned.

June 1987 to August 1994. I supported myself through my high school and undergraduate college years by working in the McDonalds restaurant in Fenton, Michigan, first working as a “grill person” and then as a “Crew Trainer”. My duties as a Crew Trainer included training new employees and supervising them until they were able to perform their job without my assistance.
